Previous Events
February 8, 2008 saw Harvey host the Chinese New Year regatta at the Harvey Dam. This was an inaugural event for the area and the club and attracted over 200 paddlers from most State clubs.
The Tradelink Corporate and Club Cup had teams sprinting 300mtrs to the finishing line, with Cockburn taking home the Club Cup and the Water Corporation team winning the Corporate Cup and team gold medals.
The Alcoa Dash for Cash was a seriously fun event and was open to all State clubs. Teams raced two at a time over a 1000mtr course, each having to turn twice around the buoys which made the race even that more challenging. Cockburn was the strongest team on the day and won the $1000 cash sponsored by Alcoa.
Conditions were not favourable on the day with high winds and rough water. Many thought it to be too rough but we all participated regardless and it simply put all teams to the test.
The Harvey Harpoons were so busy running the event we didn't have time to take photos!! We're very sorry we didn't have a dedicated photographer on the day and will have to rely on our memories - hhmmm!
A few teams camped overnight at the Harvey Senior High School to attend the after regatta party which was held at the Amphitheatre. We tripped the light fantastic on the dance floor to the great sounds of our DJ who had some great lighting effects and even better music. Everyone enjoyed the BBQ and wonderful summer evening (the wind died down to a whisper) and a great time was had by all who participated.
We thank all the teams who gave it their best on the day and it will be an event to mark down on next season's calendar.
Go the Harpoons!!!
